Whenever the world will talk about the people who devoted their lives for the sake of mankind, Sir Abdul Sattar Eidhi will be among them. Started from the bottom with nothing but a will to help all the humans irrespective of their sect, religion, age, and gender. He was the father to a lot of people, worked day and night, never made anything for his own. With his true effort and struggle, he was able to help people not in a specific region or city but worldwide by making Edhi Foundation.

As we all know about the demise of our beloved Edhi sb, his son Faisal is now managing the Edhi Foundation and has requested people to help donate as there is a fear of drop in the funds after Edhi Sb.’s death. As we can probably recall, Edhi sb used to stand on the street for funds. He would collect the smallest amount of money he would get for the foundation.

What a man he was, always talked about humanity. The Father Teresa Sir Abdul Sattar Eidhi

A task was given by Amal Academy to help Faisal Eidi in collection of funds. So, We, circle 06 were also involved in this activity. We discussed in our group how we are going to collect funds. Every member contacted their family and friends for donations as much as they wanted. Due to the pandemic situation, we were to collect the funds online, so it was a bit difficult. So, we contacted every single friend of ours, put on WhatsApp status and shared this idea of funds in our class groups. We also requested our friends to put status as well so their friends could also repeat the same and at the end we could have a better amount. The details of the activity are given:

We contacted more than 250 people and almost all of them agreed on donating money, but not everyone donated. A few said no with a straight face. It was very challenging to collect funds online rather than going out to people and telling them the situation and asking for donations, but we did what we could and asked as many people as we know. Moreover, it was a different kind of activity, we had never done this before so many people asked why are you doing this? But we told them the situation and assured them that their funds will go straight to Edhi foundation. Firstly we decided to merge with another group and decided to work alongside them but it was not a great idea because everyone had to do the collection online, So it did not matter if we work together or alone. We faced a lot of challenges, the biggest challenge was almost everyone said they will donate money, but they never replied and never reached back. Every time we asked them, they said Inshallah we will donate. Everyone had their own excuses like waiting for salary, don’t having a bank account, no Easy Paisa or Jazz Cash account, no one was there to go and credit money into the account, etc, etc.

Apart from contacting people we also sent emails to the managers of so many companies but got no response. Along with this we also messaged bloggers on Instagram and asked them if they were able to help us but again all in vain. But we never lost hope and did our best till the last second.

It was also a learning opportunity for us, as we faced difficulties and heard a few “no” but it did not get our morale down and did not stop us from collecting for the Edhi Foundation. We learnt how to tackle an audience when no one is ready to trust you and support you. Also this activity helped us to learn some ethics for teamwork because at the end it pays off !

Thank you Amal for providing this opportunity to learn and grow. We circle-06 looking forward to such more activities.
